Synthesis of SPIO Nanoparticles and the Subsequent Applications in Stem Cell Labeling for Parkinson’s Disease

Abstract Parkinson's disease (PD) is characterized by the progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in midbrain, and stem cell transplantation method provides a promising strategy for treatment. In these studies, tracking biological behaviors transplanted cells vivo essential basic understanding function evaluation clinical effectiveness. present study, we developed novel ultrasmall superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles coating with polyacrylic acid (PAA) methoxypolyethylene glycol amine (PEG) thermal decomposition two-step modification. The USPIO-PAA/PEG NPs have uniform diameter 10.07 ± 0.55 nm proper absorption peak corresponding ligands, as showed TEM FTIR.
